- The 46th International Instrumental Competition Markneukirchen 2011 invites applications in the
categories
violin – double bass
- The competition is open to the public.
- The competition will take place in Markneukirchen (Vogtland), State of Saxony, Germany from May 5th , 2011 to May 14th 2011.
- The International Instrumental Competition Markneukirchen is open to young soloists of all nationalities
- in the category violin born after January 1th , 1981
- in the category double bass born after January 1th , 1979.
- The entry form should be sent by January 31th , 2011 (date of postmark) to

Applicants are advised to hand in their application early, as the number of competitors may have to be limited for organizational reasons.
- Each competitor must enclose the following documents with his/her application form:
- a copy of his/her birth certificate or of any other official document showing his/her date of birth
- a short biography (in English or German)
- two recent passport photographs
The above mentioned documents will not be returned.
- Applications that do not meet the requirements of the competition will be rejected within 10 days after receipt.
- On receipt of the documentation confirming a successful application the application fee of 100,00 € has to be payed immediately, marked “free of charge to the payee”.

The remittance or cheque shall show (legibly) the name of the participant in capitals even if he/she does not pay in the registration fee personally. The application fee will not be repaid under any circumstances.
On request, competitors from East European countries can be granted a reduction in the application fee.
All information on the execution of the competition will be sent to the competitors. The management of the competition has the sole right of decision as to an applicant’s admission. Applications will be confirmed in writing in the order of their receipt. With the help of this acknowledgement, competitors from abroad can immediately apply for an entry visa if required.
- Qualified pianists can be provided free of charge for the competition. Competitors can however provide their own piano accompaniment at their own expense. The name of the pianist and her/his address must be noted on the application form. This information is binding.
- Living and accommodation costs are to be borne by the participants and accompanists themselves. A number of reasonably-priced private rooms and hotels are available (see application form).
- From the second round, the Secretariat will pay each participant in the competition a daily allowance of 15,00 €.
Arrival:
- All travel costs are to be borne by the participants and piano accompanists themselves. Markneukirchen is situated in the state (Bundesland) of Saxony (see page 38).

Participants and piano accompanists will be collected by the Competition drivers from the station Adorf/Vogtland on the day of arrival. Transport service is provided free of charge to participants and piano accompanists during the competition. More information will be provided upon arrival at Markneukirchen.
Conditions of participation:
- Each participant should be prepared to take part in concerts or events which may be organized within the period of competition. The preparation for the competition and the participation in it will not be affected thereby. With their application, all participants enter into an obligation to keep the period of the competition free of all engagements or concerts and to be reachable in Markneukirchen all the time.
- The organizer of the competition is authorized to record, acoustically and optically, all concerts or events within the period of the competition and to use these recordings for publicity purposes. In particular the organizer reserves the right to authorize radio and TV stations to record and broadcast all events of the competition. No claims for reimbursement for participants may arise from this.
Prize-winners are obliged to perform at the Prize Winner Concert without fee.
The organizers cannot accept any responsibility for the competitors’ instruments and their personal property.
The participant accepts all conditions of participation with the enrolment.
